PROMOTIONAL AND OPEN COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION
BUILDING TRADES WORKER

NATURE OF WORK: Performs skilled tasks in the alteration and remodeling of buildings; excavates and erects forms; pours and finishes concrete; maintains and operates trucks; removes and replaces wall paneling; works independently from blueprints and sketches.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.).

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 3 years of general building maintenance repair experience.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess and maintain, as a term and condition of continued employment, a valid Ohio Class A Commercial Driver’s License (C.D.L.) at time of appointment, including the qualification to operate a vehicle with air brakes and any other endorsements required by the State of Ohio. Out of state residents must have equivalent licenses from their state of residence.

PROMOTIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (City Employees):
Must be a full-time permanent or part-time permanent employee in pay grade 116 (Wage) or below, pay grade 25 (Clerical) or below, or equivalent, and been employed for 6 consecutive months by the City of Dayton in a classified Civil Service position. Identical scores will be broken by (1) seniority and (2) random selection method.

OPEN COMPETITIVE APPLICANTS: Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination and providing documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity. Identical scores will be broken by a random selection method.

NOTES: Examination dates and times are subject to change. Calculators will be provided for the Civil Service examination. Applicants appearing on the Promotional eligible list shall be considered prior to those on the Open Competitive list. Police background investigation may be required. Final appointment may be contingent upon the applicant passing a drug screen. PROMOTIONAL AND OPEN COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION
WATER/SEWER DISPATCHER

NATURE OF WORK: Performs a variety of tasks involving communication and coordination with work crews, supervisors and the general public to enable the Divisions of Water Distribution and Sewer Maintenance to respond appropriately and efficiently to water or sewer emergency situations, citizens' service requests, and to perform routine water or sewer system maintenance. Dispatches Sewer Maintenance or Water Distribution work crews and equipment to work sites. Compiles, types and files information on complaints received; maintains daily crew and equipment logs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.).

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 3 years of experience with a water distribution system or sewer system maintenance operation in a position requiring daily involvement with maintenance crews, either in a clerical position requiring regular daily use of the radio in the dispatch function or as a field crew member; OR 3 years of experience as a law enforcement, fire or public service emergency operator or dispatcher. Must have one year of experience in a customer service position.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and
maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

GENERAL REQUIREMENT: Must be able to type 40 net words per minute.

City of Dayton: Aircraft Rescue Firefighter

PROMOTIONAL AND OPEN COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION
AIRCRAFT RESCUE FIREFIGHTER

NATURE OF WORK: To provide basic fire prevention and suppression services to all City of Dayton Aviation facilities and to provide emergency medical and rescue services as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.).

LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

GENERAL REQUIREMENT: Must be 18 years of age at time of appointment.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The following certifications and training must be obtained and maintained thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment. At time of appointment, must have and maintain State of Ohio Firefighter II certification and Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) certification. Within one year of appointment, must obtain and maintain State of Ohio Fire Safety Inspector certification and Hazardous Materials Operations certification. Within 30 months of the class start date, must obtain and maintain State of Ohio Paramedic certification. Upon enrollment in an Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification class, must obtain and maintain ACLS certification. Must complete an approved Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) initial training program in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 139 and complete annual training in accordance with FAR 139.319.
