Battelle's Finance Intern Program is seeking a Risk Management/Treasury Intern for Summer 2012. This fulltime temporary position is located at Battelle’s Corporate Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. Other Financial Internships will be available at Battelle managed or co-managed DOE National Laboratories in the following locations: Richland, Washington; Idaho Falls, Idaho; Long Island, New York; and Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The Corporate Finance Group recognizes that work experience relating to the student’s career goal can be beneficial to the student in obtaining permanent employment upon graduation. The internship can serve to strengthen the student’s commitment to a career field; it might, on the other hand, help the intern to identify certain jobs that he or she would not wish to pursue.We strive for work assignments that are educational and meaningful. Ideally, the intern’s duties will be of a nature similar to duties that would be assigned to a college graduate in a training program. Each summer, Corporate Finance sponsors the Finance Intern Forum in which Finance interns from throughout the Battelle-managed laboratories and corporate meet to share experiences. Interns also have the opportunity to meet with Corporate Officers and other senior-level executives at the forum. Risk Management/Treasury InternBattelle manages risk through commercial insurance, a captive insurance company and other self-insurance mechanisms. The Corporate Capital Management function of the Treasury department is responsible for day-to-day funding and debt activities for Battelle. The Risk Management /Treasury intern will assist the Assistant Treasurer, Director Risk Management & Corporate Capital Management with various projects and tasks including insurance renewal proposals, claim analysis and day-to-day treasury activities.

THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
· Current standing of junior or senior at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting. Students must be enrolled to return as a full-time student following the internship.
· Overall GPA 3.0 or above
· Sole U.S. citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances.

THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:

PROMOTIONAL AND OPEN COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION
LEVEL VI - FINANCIAL (Dayton Public Schools)

NATURE OF WORK: Oversees the financial and accounting activities related to both co-curricular and appropriated funds. Collects, counts, and deposits collected monies according to standard procedures, practices, recordkeeping and reporting requirements. Codes and classifies transactions involving distribution of expenditures among classes of accounts. Prepares required accounts payable documents and checks for principal's signature. Orders equipment, office, and instructional supplies. Maintains and keeps records of inventories.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 10 years of financial experience and Level III (Advanced) Microsoft Excel computer skills. Training or courses in office practices or accounting software applications may substitute for up to 6 years of the required experience. Any 2 of the following or similar courses may substitute for one year of experience: keyboarding, introduction to computers, Word, Excel, or principles of accounting.

GENERAL REQUIREMENT: Must be able to type 35 net words per minute.

CITIZENSHIP: Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States at time of application.

PROMOTIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Dayton Public Schools Employees): Current full-time permanent employment with Dayton Public Schools must be indicated on your application in order to receive promotional credit. Current employment will be verified by Dayton Public School's Human Resources Department. Identical scores will be broken by (1) seniority and (2) random selection method.

OPEN COMPETITIVE APPLICANTS: Applicants appearing on the Promotional eligible list shall be considered for appointment prior to those on the Open Competitive list. Identical exam scores will be broken in favor of: (1) the candidate who received military credit; (2) random selection method.

Final appointment may be contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination, drug screen and/or police background investigation and providing documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity. Finance Internship

Boyce Seeks College Students for Competitive 2010 Internship Program
State Treasurer Kevin Boyce announced the opening of applications for the 2010 Mary Ellen Withrow Internship Program. Students accepted into this summer program will have a firsthand opportunity to learn how the treasury protects and invests state funds while providing innovative financial education and resources.

The program requires that candidates commit to working a minimum of 20 hours per week during the summer. All internships are based in Columbus. Interns are required to remain in the city throughout the duration of the program. An applicant must be an Ohio resident and a student at an accredited two- or four-year college or university, in or out of state. Prospective interns are encouraged to seek academic credit for the treasury internships with their respective educational institutions.
