WTAE - TV, Channel 4 of Pittsburgh is seeking unpaid interns to work in sales and marketing for a period of 10-13 weeks, in summer, fall, or winter.

Assist in Sales, Marketing, TV Production, and Digital Platforms.

Propective interns should be college juniors or seniors majoring in marketing, communications, broadcasting or other related fields. Students must be under the auspices of the college and registered for internship credits.

Sales:
- Compile information and prepare sales presentations
- Accompany account executives on sales presentations
- Work with local and general sales managers
- Assist sales managers with contract spot placement
- Work with Nielsen ratings information

Marketing
- Manage Summerfest at Kennywood in july including preparation of activities and flyers, coordination of daily events and prize distribution (for summer interns only)
- Create special project proposals
- Help write/produce promotional and public service announcements
- Assist with client marketing events
- Help create marketing research presentations using various resource tools

TV Production
- Attend client pre-production meetings
- Write scripts and shadow videographer and editor
- Observe live broadcases of new in studio and director's booth

Web Site/Digital Platforms
- Help coordinate web campaiagns on wtae-com and other WTAE-TV digital platforms

Location: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Patuxent Research Refuge, Laurel, Maryland

Dates of employment: Feb. 13^th, 2012 – May 10^th, 2012

Qualifications: Must have well-developed communication skills and leadership ability; be able to work independently and as part of a team; experience working with children and adults preferred. Bachelor’s degree (or pursuing) in education, natural resources, or related field desired. Driver’s license necessary.

Duties: Provide quality educational experiences for all visitors to the National Wildlife Visitor Center and Patuxent Research Refuge through developing and conducting interpretive and educational programs for all ages, leading interpretive tram tours focusing on wildlife management and research, working with Scout groups, and assisting with all operations of a visitor center. Work schedule will include weekends (two days off during week), and some holidays.

Fraunces Tavern Internships

2012 Spring Internships at Fraunces Tavern® Museum, New York, NY

Collection/Curatorial intern (2 positions available) Spring 2012 (10 – 30 hours per week)

Fraunces Tavern® Museum’s mission is to educate the public and encourage the exploration of American Colonial, Revolutionary War, Early Republic and Early New York City history. It was founded in 1907 by Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York, Inc. Housed in historic Fraunces Tavern, the permanent collection focuses on 18^th and 19^th century buildings, period rooms, prints, paintings, sculpture decorative arts, rare books and documents relating to or reflecting aspects of early American culture and history. Also included in the collection are items associated with the history of the Sons of the Revolution of the State of New York.

In order to better serve its public and fulfill this mission, the museum has recently re-housed its collection. Now that the Museum’s historical objects are in proper storage a complete inventory of the collection must be completed. Reporting to the Curator, intern will:

1. Identify and verify the location of objects
2. Create and organize object documentation – both manual and digital (includes object research)
3. Write condition reports
4. Stabilize objects in preparation for storage and conservation
5. Assist in exhibition preparation and mounting

The internship will start in January 2012 and is unpaid.

Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled in undergraduate studies (history, politics, English, or similar) or graduate studies (museum studies, public history, education, American History or similar), or have completed either/or. Intern should be detail oriented, organized, and able to work independently. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders. A solid Early American, Colonial American and Revolutionary War history a plus.

Archives/Collections Intern (2 positions available) Spring, 2012 (30 to 40 hours per week)

The Gaston County Museum is currently seeking 2 interns for Spring 2012; one Curatorial and one Archival. In addition, both interns will assist the Curatorial Staff in exhibit design/installation as well as collections management. The interns will also work under the guidance of the Curatorial Staff to update and maintain permanent exhibits and interpreted spaces.

The successful candidates will be detail oriented, organized, and able to work independently. Must be able to work with and meet deadlines, lift up to 30 pounds, and climb stairs and ladders. Preference will be given to candidates with previous museum work or course experience and/or candidates wishing to pursue a career in museums. Knowledge of PastPerfect collections database a plus.

The internships are unpaid, but housing that is within walking distance to the museum is provided. Both internships will begin in January, 2012 and be 30 to 40 hours per week during that time. Deadline for application is November 18th, 2011.

College Intern Job Description

DaytonMostMetro.com (DMM) is an online magazine covering things to see, do and get involved with in the Dayton Region. In a partnership with SOCHE and the Downtown Dayton Partnership, DMM has created a new section called Dayton Campus Connect which will feature articles written by area college interns about various local topics – including events, venues and local people.

Interns will be selected from area colleges to intern for one semester with DMM as contributing authors. After an initial training session on using Wordpress, story topics and deadlines will be assigned by the DMM Editorial Staff via email. Student interns will be expected to post at least ten articles within the semester (may vary depending on complexity and necessary research time). DMM Editorial Staff will maintain a schedule that all interns can access and will include topic info, due dates and actual article submission dates. At the end of the semester, student interns will submit their respective evaluation forms to DMM Publisher Bill Pote at bpote1@gmail.com no less than two weeks before they are due.

Article Guidelines

Articles will be between 500 and 1,500 words and include at least one photo/image (either taken by student intern or downloaded from the web). Content will vary depending on topic, but overall the student intern should write articles with the perspective of a college student. One of the purposes of this program is to expose student interns to various things happening in the region, and through their articles – expose other college students to what the region has to offer. DMM Editorial Staff will provide topic-specific guidelines per article, and will be available throughout the semester for additional guidance.
