Director, Haiti Assistance Program

The American Red Cross (ARC), a leading member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, seeks an experienced Director to oversee the Haiti Assistance Program in response to the January 12, 2010 earthquake. This position will provide leadership and management oversight of the American Red Cross relief, recovery and mitigation framework in Haiti. In addition, the incumbent will ensure effective coordination and planning as part of the overall programmatic strategies within International Response and Program (IRP) unit and the Latin America and Caribbean region.

Responsibilities: The Director, Haiti Assistance Program is accountable, under the direction and guidance of the Senior Director, International Response and Programs, for leading the American Red Cross recovery programs in Haiti and ensuring effective coordination with RC/RC and non-RC/RC partners. The Director will manage the strategic program implementation and have overall operational responsibilities for activities in Haiti. The HAP Director will be expected to use a high degree of initiative to achieve objectives within Haiti.

Bachelor's degree in business, management, international
development or related field required; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of ten years relevant work experience in international development/ relief field, minimum of five years managerial experience, and minimum of five years experience managing large scale (>$10 million) multi-sectoral programs.
