Fisheries Ecology and Aquatic Science (FEAS) Temporary Full Time Technician

Closing: Until suitable applicant is found.
Salary: $8-$12/hour depending on experience
Responsibilities: We are seeking a temporary (approximately six month appointment), full time technician to work in the Fisheries Ecology and Aquatic Science (FEAS) laboratory at North Carolina State University. This person will participate in a variety of field and laboratory work, including collecting and processing fish, invertebrate, and water quality samples. In particular, processing and analyzing fish diets will be an important responsibility. Other responsibilities may include otolith processing, data entry, and equipment maintenance.
Qualifications: Applicant must have an interest in fisheries ecology or food web dynamics, be organized, self-motivated, work well independently, and be willing to work occasional field nights in adverse conditions. Though knowledge of freshwater fish, zooplankton and invertebrates would be useful, we are willing to train a person that’s motivated to learn. Start and end dates are flexible, however, the position is available, and we are interested in filling it immediately.
Contact: Interested applicants should contact Dr. Jim Rice, Department of Biology, NCSU, at jim_rice@ncsu.edu.
