History/PR Internship

The Kanawha Gateway Heritage Area, founded in 2006 to provide financial and technical assistance to Mason and Putnam counties, West Virginia, is seeking interns for summer 2010.

Duties:
-Staff the Buffalo/WV Rt. 62 Welcome Center on Fridays and Saturdays
-Recruit, organize, and supervise volunteers
-Maintain basic upkeep of the building
-Assist with numerous local fairs and festivals as needed
-Perform basic administrative tasks related to ongoing projects

Benefits:
-Free housing in Hurricane (Teays Valley)
-Use of organization’s vehicle
-$100 per week stipend for 10 weeks
-Freedom to develop and work on your own projects

Requirements:
-Comfortable working with the public and answering questions
-Basic computer skills including word-processing and email
-Interest in historic interpretation and/or tourism
-Reenacting roles available if interested
-Must be a current college student or recent graduate
