Waukesha County Museum Internships

The Waukesha County Museum is pleased to announce the following internship positions:

Education Programming Intern (paid)

The museum’s Education Department presents Waukesha County’s history to visitors of all ages through on-site education programs, special events, summer camps, Discovery Boxes, and outreach programs. The Education Programming Intern will work directly with the Director of Education in many aspects of the museum’s education programming, including working behind the scenes and with the public and volunteers.

Exhibits Research Internship (paid)

The Exhibits Research Internship will provide practical experience researching exhibits that present Waukesha County’s history to visitors of all ages. In 2010, this may include the museum’s winter/spring traveling exhibits and the fall 2010 exhibit, “Memories of World War II,” or core exhibits with topics such as Waukesha’s Springs Era, Native Americans of Waukesha County, etc. The intern will work directly with the Curator of Collections & Exhibits and Archivist in many aspects of the museum’s exhibit research, including utilizing the two- and three-dimensional collections and researching secondary sources.

Marketing & Communications Internship (paid)

The Marketing/Communications Intern (MCI) will report to the Director of Development & Marketing, aiding in designing, implementing, evaluating, and revising all aspects of the museum’s marketing/communications program. The MCI will function as a team member in both the Department and as a member of the entire museum staff. The MCI will also receive exposure to and opportunities to interact with other museum professionals (curator, archivist, education director,
etc.).

Education Collection Internship (unpaid)

The museum’s Education Department presents Waukesha County’s history to visitors of all ages. The education collection allows visitors to experience history “hands on” by interacting with historic objects not part of the museum’s permanent collection.
