Digital Journalist at WCMH-TV in Columbus
A Digital Journalist develops the story, shoots, writes, and edit the story, and is responsible for its presentation on multiple meida platforms. The DJ must have a passion for advocacy on the part of the customer. It is critical that he/she be a highly motivated person well versed in the rules of journalism, capable of working in a self-directed environment and able to exercise a high level of creativity, innovation and enterprise when creating stories.
Qualified candidates will have a BA or BS from an accredited college or university, or with strong professional experience or skills. Must have 2-5 years experience working as a reporter or photojournalist for a local newspaper, television station, radio station or website or demonstrated expertise in an assigned subject or geographic area. Experience should include a demonstration of writing, shooting and editing skills or a clear propsensity to learn and acquire the necesssary skill and abilities.

University Journalism Scholarships: Three scholarships of $1500 each. Students must be actively enrolled in Ohio colleges or universities and are sophomores, juniors, or seniors during the 2012-13 academic year.
Ohio Newspaper Women's Scholarship: One scholarship of $1500 will be awarded to a male or female student who will be enrolled as a junior or senior in the 2012-13 academic year.
Harold Douthit Regional Scholarship: One scholarship of $1500 awarded to a student who is will be enrolled at an Ohio college or university in the 201213 academic year as a sophomore, junior, or senior, AND has graduated from a high school in one of the following counties: Cuyahoga, Lorain, Huron, Wood, Geauga, Sandusky, Ottawa, or Lucas.

Paid Journalism Internships
I'm happy to announce that the application for our Fall Journalism Internship Program is now available. Our program offers paid placements in print, broadcast, new media, and investigative journalism, and includes a weeklong workshop. Please inform your students and recent graduates.
Internship hosts include newspapers, media networks, non-profit newsrooms, and new media start-ups. Past interns have worked at a LA news-radio station and Fox Business, and newspapers such as the DC Examiner. Students may also find their own internship and apply for funding. Our program director, a former journalist, provides mentoring and job placement help during and after the internship. Program alumni were recently hired by the Daily Caller, National Review, and The Monitor in McAllen, Texas.

Students can also still apply to our career-oriented Summer Seminars on liberty. The seminars explain how to apply economic and political tools to careers in journalism, public policy, or academia. Participants can network with renowned professionals in their fields and other participants.
