Paid Internship in Central Illinois


Application Deadline: March 12, 2010

Terms of positions: 26 week internship with start date in May. Work week of Monday through Friday plus alternating weekend duty with compensatory time off.

Location: Homestead Prairie Farm, a circa 1860 living history house museum, is located at the Rock Springs Conservation Area and administered by Macon County Conservation District with assistance from volunteers. For information go to: www.maconcountyconservation.org

Salary/Stipend: $8.25/hour for 40 hours/week. Intern receives a $250 monthly housing stipend.

Duties :

Interpretation---Assist in the third person interpretation of Homestead Prairie Farm with the main feature being the Trobaugh-Good House listed on the National Register. Interpretive duties include working with staff and volunteers to provide tours and history programs for the general public and also for various groups by appointment.

Youth Programs---The interns will co-manage one Pioneer Adventure Summer Day Camp and two Junior Pioneer Adventure Summer Day Camps. Each of the 3 camps meet for 3 hours on a different morning of the week for 6 weeks. Each camp is limited to 12 children so camper to staff ratio is 6:1. Campers will range in age from K – 2nd grade and 3rd – 6th grade. In addition 3 single day history camps which meet only once will be offered to the 3rd – 6th grade age group.

Collections/Exhibits: The intern will help other staff set up/remove traveling exhibits, publicize programs, assist with collections duties and with recordkeeping for reproduction historic period clothing worn by staff and volunteers.

Research/Educational/Administrative-----The interns will assist with the research and presentation of various history programs, write newsletter articles, research various topics for training materials and aid volunteers. The interns will assist with special events, some housekeeping/maintenance duties, purchasing, publicity and more.

news utilizing satellite and live trucks, and state of the art helicopter. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills
coupled with the ability to work effectively under pressure. This position requires at least three years experience on the assignment desk
and previous supervisory experience.
Weekend Morning Meteorologist/Reporter (Job #200BR): WBNS 10TV, Central Ohio’s News Leader, seeks a weekend morning
meteorologist and reporter. The successful candidate will be responsible for anchoring 10TV’s weekend morning weathercasts and weather
producing and/or weather reporting three days per week. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable of severe weather, possessing
the skills to deliver a dynamic weathercast as well as excellent reporting skills. This position requires previous experience as a television
