Division/Office: Strategic Business Investment Division

Major: Business Administration, Pre-law, Political Science, Public Policy, or City & Regional Planning. Other related majors may also be considered.

Hours: Flexible hours are available, with requested work schedules of between 20 & 40 hours per week.

Salary: $10 - $15 per hour depending on academic level & experience.

Job Description: Assists Strategic Business Investment Division (i.e., SBID) with various projects: Supports SBID Business Development Managers & Credit Analysts in negotiating incentive agreements between companies & State of Ohio; assembles marketing proposals targeted at recruiting new business investment projects to Ohio; performs & presents demographic, financial, & related research to encourage company officials to invest in Ohio; drafts official correspondence on behalf of Governor, Lt. Governor, Director of Development & other senior staff; attends occasional meetings between Business Development Managers or Credit Analysts, Chief Economic Officers, Chief Financial Officers, & other company officials; interacts with Director’s Office, Office of Policy, Research, & Strategic Planning, & Communications & Marketing Division; completes special projects for Loans & Servicing Office; serves as back-up for Executive Assistant for Director’s office of SBID; covers front desk as needed.

Qualifications: Must be a college student enrolled in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program. Foreign language ability is a plus. Upperclassmen & graduate students are preferred.

A minimum of one-year commitment is required.

Candidate must possess knowledge of Business, Public Policy* & Agency Policies & Procedures (e.g., standard operating procedures)*. The candidate must have skill in operation of personal computer & related software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer) & equipment operations (e.g., photocopier, calculator). The candidate must have the ability to carry out instruction in written or oral form, maintain accurate records, gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things, prepare meaningful, concise & accurate reports, use proper research methods in gathering data, cooperate with co-workers on group projects & answer routine telephone inquiries from public.
