NBC4: Senior Marketing Writer/Producer

WCMH-TV (NBC4), here for you, is seeking a talented, creative Senior Producer/Writer to join our Marketing team. Are you a strong writer with excellent, Premiere editing skills? Can you take your vision from a thought to a promo? Do you understand the difference between a news story and a news tease? Does your copy create intrigue and sell coverage?

Major Purpose: You will be responsible for increased ratings and market the station through news promotions, campaigns and presentations. This vision composes fresh video and tight supporting copy to produce broadcast and online multi-media promos that both inspire the viewer and sell the news product each day. This position is responsible for the look, feel, tone, cadence, and storytelling of our brand and product marketing on a daily basis. The person in this role will build productive relationships with content and revenue departments through personal initiative, flexibility, and intellectual curiosity. You will write, produce, and edit news topicals, utilize social media to draw viewer tune-in, produce proof of performance promos, plus produce product and brand campaigns. The successful candidate must also be an excellent communicator with solid news judgement that can write compelling news copy with little supervision. You must be able to work in a fast-paced news environment and can handle tight deadlines. As part of our promotions team you will have the opportunity to work with a very creative group. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Write, produce and edit succinct yet compelling daily news and sweeps topicals and brand promotions and select accompaniments such as video, music, sound effects and graphics.
  • Sift through complex and frequently changing project details in order to define, communicate and produce copy that supports audience and brand growth.
  • Assist and support marketing team with logistics, execution and delivery of creative
  • Serve as marketing videographer and be able to secure talent, scout locations, address lighting and supply props.
  • Proactively write and produce "Proof of Benefit" spots with compelling creative and video that showcase the NBC4 brand pillars
  • Assumes ownership of all projects by setting priorities and identifying critical issues and goals.
  • Coordinate special projects as assigned, including but not limited to station events and interactive cross-promotions.
  • Writes, shoots and produces station PSA and event promotions as necessary
Education and Experience:
  • Ability to write clear and succinctly offering a variety of concepts for approaching sweeps stories, daily topicals and brand campaigns.
  • Ability to react proactively to feedback
  • Creative and conceptual thinker
  • Personal initiative, flexibility and intellectual curiosity
  • Strong news judgement
  • Strong process-orientation tempered w/ability to recognize when flexibility is required
  • Proven hands-on experience w/non-linear editing
  • Ability to find absolute shortest way to clearly communicate an idea
  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism or Multimedia/Video production
  • 3+ years of concept to completion video in broadcast, or corporate video production and communication environment.
  • Must be proficient in HD non-linear, file based, shred storage editing enNBC4vironment.
  • Experience with Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Flash and various video compression technologies.
  • Portfolio of work required

Network Coordinator/Producer (Job #100AM): RSN Satellite Services has an immediate opening for conscientious network coordinator/producer. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating master control for RSN as well as audio production for both pre-produced and network broadcasts. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining RSN and Columbus Blue Jackets traffic functions, coordinating and communicating with affiliate stations, maintaining subscriber database, creating and maintaining podcasting routines and ensuring that website content is accurate and up to date. This is a fast paced position that requires excellent communication skills, a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in sometimes stressful situations. This position requires at least 3-5 years experience in radio production, proficiency with audio editing (Adobe Audition experience preferred), experience with digital audio delivery systems, radio master control facilities and digital audio routing systems. The principal duties include editing HD and SD projects for short and long-form programming, commercial production, corporate and marketing videos, broadcast specials, Internet videos, and various other programming. Final Cut Pro editing experience on broadcast television productions is required, as well as a strong sense for graphics and sound. The applicant must have strong people skills, an artistic eye, creative mindset, the ability to work well under tight deadlines, and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and clients. Expertise in After Effects and Photoshop is a strong plus. The schedule may include weekdays, nights, and occasional weekends. A College degree, three years of professional editor experience, plus the ability to troubleshoot technical problems associated with editing, video encoding, codecs, servers, and formats is desired. Director (Job #400DW): The Ohio News Network, Ohio’s statewide cable news channel, is searching for a highly motivated director to join our production team. The successful candidate will direct newscast segments, manage video clips comprising ONN’s automated wheel format and direct live and taped programming in the studio and in the field. ONN’s directors utilize automated technology on a daily basis in the production of our on-air product while also performing multiple crew positions, including camera, audio, graphics, video playback and camera shading to produce a clean newscast. Additionally, ONN’s directors perform master control duties on a regular basis. This position requires previous experience in a director/td role, excellent communication skills, strong computer skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure. A degree in a broadcast related field is preferred.
