LEVEL VI - FINANCIAL (Dayton Public Schools)

NATURE OF WORK: Oversees the financial and accounting activities related to both co-curricular and appropriated funds. Collects, counts, and deposits collected monies according to standard procedures, practices, recordkeeping and reporting requirements. Codes and classifies transactions involving distribution of expenditures among classes of accounts. Prepares required accounts payable documents and checks for principal's signature. Orders equipment, office, and instructional supplies. Maintains and keeps records of inventories.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 10 years of financial experience and Level III (Advanced) Microsoft Excel computer skills. Training or courses in office practices or accounting software applications may substitute for up to 6 years of the required experience. Any 2 of the following or similar courses may substitute for one year of experience: keyboarding, introduction to computers, Word, Excel, or principles of accounting.

GENERAL REQUIREMENT: Must be able to type 35 net words per minute.

CITIZENSHIP: Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States at time of application.

PROMOTIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Dayton Public Schools Employees): Current full-time permanent employment with Dayton Public Schools must be indicated on your application in order to receive promotional credit. Current employment will be verified by Dayton Public School's Human Resources Department. Identical scores will be broken by (1) seniority and (2) random selection method.

OPEN COMPETITIVE APPLICANTS: Applicants appearing on the Promotional eligible list shall be considered for appointment prior to those on the Open Competitive list. Identical exam scores will be broken in favor of: (1) the candidate who received military credit; (2) random selection method.

MILITARY CREDIT: Open Competitive applicants who have had military service will receive an additional credit of 20% if a passing grade is attained. TO OBTAIN CREDIT, A COPY OF THE DD214 OR CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE (INDICATING HONORABLE DISCHARGE) MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF EXAMINATION.

Post secondary education must be from a college, university, or institution of higher learning that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities or equivalent region. CONSTRUCTION ELECTRICIAN

NATURE OF WORK: This is skilled electric work in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of high and low voltage electrical systems and related equipment.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.).

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Must have knowledge and experience of the National Electric Code (NEC). At time of appointment, must be able to present certificates of NEC classes or International Union of Electricians (IUE) training for NEC requirements. NEC experience must have been attained within the past 10 years and must include one of the following: 1. Six years of experience as an electrician including the installation of conduit, electrical wiring on equipment, maintenance and repair of communication, alarm and electrical transmission lines, and in the
troubleshooting of motor control, lighting systems, and transformer problems; OR
2. Graduation from an IUE approved apprentice program (at least 4 years) may substitute for the 6 years of experience requirement as listed above. Written verification of completion of the IUE apprentice program must be presented at time of appointment. A written statement verifying the completion of the IUE program must be indicated in the education or experience section of your application.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Must possess and maintain, as a term and condition of continued employment, a valid Ohio Class A Commercial Driver's License (C.D.L.) at time of appointment, including the qualification to operate a vehicle with air brakes and any other endorsements required by the State of Ohio. Out of state residents must have equivalent licenses from their state of residence.

GENERAL REQUIREMENT: Must not be colorblind.

PROMOTIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (City Employees): Must be a full-time permanent employee in a pay grade below 218, including pay grade 124 (Wage) or below, pay grade 29 (Clerical) or below, or equivalent, and been employed for 6 consecutive months by the City of Dayton in a classified Civil Service position. Identical scores will be broken by (1) seniority and (2) random selection method.

WATER/SEWER DISPATCHER

NATURE OF WORK: Performs a variety of tasks involving communication and coordination with work crews, supervisors and the general public to enable the Divisions of Water Distribution and Sewer Maintenance to respond appropriately and efficiently to water or sewer emergency situations, citizens' service requests, and to perform routine water or sewer system maintenance. Dispatches Sewer Maintenance or Water Distribution work crews and equipment to work sites. Compiles, types and files information on complaints received; maintains daily crew and equipment logs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.).

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 3 years of experience with a water distribution system or sewer system maintenance operation in a position requiring daily involvement with maintenance crews, either in a clerical position requiring regular daily use of the radio in the dispatch function or as a field crew member; OR 3 years of experience as a law enforcement, fire or public service emergency operator or dispatcher. Must have one year of experience in a customer service position.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and
maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

AIRCRAFT RESCUE FIREFIGHTER

NATURE OF WORK: To provide basic fire prevention and suppression services to all City of Dayton Aviation facilities and to provide emergency medical and rescue services as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.).

LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

GENERAL REQUIREMENT: Must be 18 years of age at time of appointment.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The following certifications and training must be obtained and maintained thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment. At time of appointment, must have and maintain State of Ohio Firefighter II certification and Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) certification. Within one year of appointment, must obtain and maintain State of Ohio Fire Safety Inspector certification and Hazardous Materials Operations certification. Within 30 months of the class start date, must obtain and maintain State of Ohio Paramedic certification. Upon enrollment in an Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification class, must obtain and maintain ACLS certification. Must complete an approved Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) initial training program in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 139 and complete annual training in accordance with FAR 139.319.

DEPARTMENT: Fire

SALARY RANGE: $38,646.40 to $52,291.20

RESPONSIBILITIES: Incumbent performs skilled machining work in fabrication, repair and maintenance of a variety of parts and equipment made of metal, wood, and plastic. Work includes, but is not limited to, machining, fabricating and repairing parts for water hydrants, fire vehicles, fire equipment, automotive equipment, jigs, fixtures and gauges. Maintains safety, breathing, and life-support equipment including complete servicing of breathing air compressors. Welds, brazes, and performs other operations required in the construction and repair of equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or G.E.D. and five years of experience as a journey worker machinist. Must have a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must obtain certification for repairing Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) within 6 months of appointment, and maintain any and all manufacturer's recommended training/certifications for equipment used by the Dayton Fire Department as a term and condition of continued employment.
