Board Operator

Cox Radio is seeking a full time Board Operation with working knowledge of commercial radio control board operations.

Position Summary:

· Work 5 overnights (Sunday thru Thursday) handling control board & transmitter responsibilities of 3 radio stations;

· Edit & label numerous news sound bites

· Write news & Voice stories

Weekend News Anchor (PT)

Cox Radio-Dayton is seeking a part time on-air news anchor to broadcasting live newscasts on the top and bottom of the hour.

Position Responsibilities:

· Write, produce and anchor quality radio newscasts

Multimedia First Responder

We are seeking self-sufficient journalists capable of cultivating important contacts in the field, asking key questions on breaking news scenes to quickly determine scope of event and work well under pressure in a fast-paced work environment. Successful candidates will be asked to:

Respond to scene of breaking news, where they will operate Live U for live TV coverage; operate still camera for web/print use; use smart phone to quickly send still pictures via email to breaking news team; use a hand-held scanner to monitor breaking news while out of the office; use a GPS and paper maps to navigate to scenes quickly;

Share information quickly with breaking news team so planning can begin among all platforms; be available for Live U shots at least one hour before and during all TV newscast times. Candidates may be asked to give initial live report from scene for radio, so voice skills a requirement.

Candidates must excel at working independently in the field while multi-tasking and staying in constant communication with the breaking news team. Scanner experience a plus as is an above-average knowledge of streets in Dayton and these counties in the Miami Valley area (Montgomery, Greene, Clark, Preble, Darke, Champaign, Logan, Shelby, Mercer, Miami, Auglaize, Warren, Clinton, Wayne Co. Breaking News Reporter

Our breaking news reporters will be asked to respond to scenes of breaking news as needed and provide updates to use on air for radio; voice skills preferred. Successful candidates will write web updates and also write complete stories for use in CMG Ohio print publications; monitor live and Rangecast scanners for breaking news; confirm scanner traffic via phone with dispatchers; quickly disperse information to breaking news team; send breaking news alerts to internal staff/off-property breaking news teams; shoot pictures/video at breaking news scenes with cell or small camera.

Candidates must be skilled multi-taskers; must have sound news judgment and knowledge of police codes on scanners; must be able to communicate effectively with community contacts and excel at developing relationships and trust with contacts and sources; must have knowledge of Ohio and federal public record laws; must be able to stay in constant communication with team members; and must work well under pressure, in a fast-paced work environment. Social Media/Web Editors

We need social media monitors for all platforms’ Facebook and Twitter feeds for breaking news tips/pictures/video who respond and post as needed. Candidates will use social media as newsgathering tool for breaking news team; monitor iWitness7, 7online and other platform email accounts for breaking news tips;

Candidates also will stay in constant communication with team members; post breaking news to web, write first web updates, add first photos and/or video to developing stories; and send breaking news mobile alerts.

Investigator

Monitor live and Rangecast scanners for breaking news; confirm scanner traffic via phone with dispatchers; make systematic beat check calls; quickly disperse information to breaking news team; monitor traffic cameras and weather radar for breaking news/weather conditions; send breaking news alerts to internal staff/off property breaking news teams; conduct public records searches as necessary to confirm breaking news tips; monitor breaking news phone tip line.

Candidates may be asked to provide call-in updates to use on air for radio and must be skilled multi-taskers who are organized and meticulous about day-to-day story follow up. Assignment Editor

WHIO-TV has an immediate opening for a full time Assignment Editor. We are seeking an experienced candidate who can multi-task and work well under pressure. This person will help gather, confirm, generate and assign news stories. You will also assist with writing for our website, WHIOTV.com. YOU must have good people and phone skills. Chief Engineer (Req.# -11)

Cox Media Group Ohio (CMGO) seeks a Chief Engineer. This is a key leadership position for CMGO. Duties include managing the day-to-day repairs, planning and execution of capital projects, maintaining FCC records and compliance and transmitter(s) chief operator. This position will work collaboratively with all CMGO departments on broadcast related issues and has two direct-reports.

Responsibilities:

· Supervise the day-to-day maintenance and repairs

· Assist with capital budgets planning and project management Maintain

· FCC compliance for our stations

· Oversee the design, documentation and execution of television system projects across various technology disciplines

· Have the primary responsibility for maximizing uptime by managing repairs and preventive maintenance on digital and analog transmission facilities

· Perform periodic measurements and recordkeeping to maintain FCC compliance

· Manage all broadcast maintenance and Engineering IT

Minimum Qualifications:

· Extensive experience with all television studio and transmission systems.

· Effective sense of priority and time management

· Thoroughly familiar with relevant FCC regulations

· Minimum 2-year technical college degree

· Minimum of 10 years of broadcast television experience with at least five years in technical management.

· Must be a team player, an effective communicator, and able to work and manage a team under pressure

· SBE certification and newsroom operations experience are a plus
