Multimedia First Responder We are seeking self-sufficient journalists capable of cultivating important contacts in the field, asking key questions on breaking news scenes to quickly determine scope of event and work well under pressure in a fast-paced work environment. Successful candidates will be asked to: Respond to scene of breaking news, where they will operate Live U for live TV coverage; operate still camera for web/print use; use smart phone to quickly send still pictures via email to breaking news team; use a hand-held scanner to monitor breaking news while out of the office; use a GPS and paper maps to navigate to scenes quickly; Share information quickly with breaking news team so planning can begin among all platforms; be available for Live U shots at least one hour before and during all TV newscast times. Candidates may be asked to give initial live report from scene for radio, so voice skills a requirement. Candidates must excel at working independently in the field while multi-tasking and staying in constant communication with the breaking news team. Scanner experience a plus as is an above-average knowledge of streets in Dayton and these counties in the Miami Valley area (Montgomery, Greene, Clark, Preble, Darke, Champaign, Logan, Shelby, Mercer, Miami, Auglaize, Warren, Clinton, Wayne Co. Breaking News Reporter Our breaking news reporters will be asked to respond to scenes of breaking news as needed and provide updates to use on air for radio; voice skills preferred. Successful candidates will write web updates and also write complete stories for use in CMG Ohio print publications; monitor live and Rangecast scanners for breaking news; confirm scanner traffic via phone with dispatchers; quickly disperse information to breaking news team; send breaking news alerts to internal staff/off-property breaking news teams; shoot pictures/video at breaking news scenes with cell or small camera.
