LEVEL VI - CLERICAL (Dayton Public Schools)
NATURE OF WORK: Provides administrative support to the office assigned; assists in the planning, implementation, and facilitation of programs, events, workshops, and activities. Manages the office and workflow; ensures smooth and efficient operation of the office; applies knowledge of school system operations, procedures and judgment in establishing or adapting work procedures to new situations. Has frequent contact with top level officials of the school system; handles unusually difficult, complex, and confidential matters.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 10 years of office experience and Level III (Advanced) computer skills in Microsoft applications. Training or courses in business office practices may substitute for up to 6 years of the required experience. Any 2 of the following or similar courses may substitute for one year of experience: keyboarding, introduction to computers, filing applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, or office management.
GENERAL REQUIREMENT: Must be able to type 50 net words per minute.
CITIZENSHIP: Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States at time of application.
PROMOTIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Dayton Public Schools Employees): Current full-time permanent employment with Dayton Public Schools must be indicated on your application in order to receive promotional credit. Current employment will be verified by Dayton Public School's Human Resources Department. Identical scores will be broken by (1) seniority and (2) random selection method.
OPEN COMPETITIVE APPLICANTS: Applicants appearing on the Promotional eligible list shall be considered for appointment prior to those on the Open Competitive list. Identical scores will be broken in favor of: (1) the candidate who received military credit and (2) random selection method.
MILITARY CREDIT: Open Competitive applicants who have had military service will receive an additional credit of 20% if a passing grade is attained. TO OBTAIN CREDIT, A COPY OF THE DD214 OR CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE (INDICATING HONORABLE DISCHARGE) MUST BE SUBMITTED AT TIME OF EXAMINATION.
NOTES: Examination dates and times are subject to change. Post secondary education must be from a college, university, or institution of higher learning that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities or equivalent region. Calculators will be provided for the Civil Service examination. Final appointment may be contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination, drug screen and/or police background investigation and providing documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity. Applicants are responsible for providing all necessary employment dates, experience, training, or any other requirements as stated in the Exam Announcement, in order for their application to be considered for certification and admittance to the examination process.
SALARY: $16.97 to $22.13 per hour
